Australia’s cricket star, Glenn Maxwell, is under investigation by Cricket Australia after an alcohol-related incident during a night out in Adelaide.
The incident occurred while Maxwell was watching Six and Out, the band featuring former Australian Test cricket great Brett Lee. He was subsequently rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital but sustained no major injuries and has resumed training.
The incident has prompted Cricket Australia to seek further information, emphasizing that Maxwell's exclusion from the ODI squad against West Indies is unrelated. Maxwell, nicknamed 'The Big Show,' has faced previous challenges, including a fractured left fibula in 2022 and a concussion in October of the same year.
Despite the investigation, Cricket Australia expects Maxwell to return for the upcoming T20 series. The talented all-rounder boasts a decorated career, contributing significantly to Australia's victories in the ODI World Cups in 2015 and 2023 and the T20 World Cup in 2021.
His extraordinary innings in the last World Cup, scoring 201* while battling cramps, remains one of the greatest ODI performances. Maxwell has also represented various teams in county cricket, showcasing his versatile skills in both batting and bowling.
As Cricket Australia delves into the incident, Maxwell's resilience and contribution to the sport will be closely monitored by fans and cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
