The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has extended the power distribution and supply licences for K-Electric (KE) for an additional 20 years.
KE had requested a non-exclusive licence in anticipation of the power sector's upcoming liberalization.
The previous 20-year licence for KE expired in July 2023, and Nepra had initially provided an interim distribution licence for six months, set to expire in January 2024.
Following a thorough hearing that concluded on November 28, 2023, Nepra has now officially renewed KE's authorization to continue its power supply operations in Karachi, Uthal, Bela, Vinder, Hub, Dhabeji, and Gharo.
