Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has made its strategic moves on the chessboard of national and Punjab’s upcoming provincial assembly elections, announcing candidates for key constituencies.
From established figures like Jahangir Tareen and Abdul Aleem Khan to fresh faces like Tahir Mahmood Hindli and Mohammad Mossadeq Riaz, the party offers a diverse lineup aiming to shake up the political landscape.
National Assembly lineup
In Rawalpindi, Ghulam Sarwar Khan will contest from NA-54, and Sharjeel Meera will be the candidate for NA-56. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan secures the ticket for NA-70 Sialkot, while Rana Nazir Khan is the designated candidate for NA-79 Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, in Lahore, Gul Asghar Khan is set to contest from NA-88 Khushab, Humayun Akhtar Khan from NA-97, Abdul Aleem Khan from NA-117, and Hashim Dogra from NA-133 Qasoor. Malik Nauman Langriyal will represent NA-143 Sahiwal, while Mohammad Ayaz Khan Niazi is the candidate for NA-147 Khanewal. Jahangir Khan Tareen has secured the ticket for NA-149, and NA-155 Lodhran.
The party’s decision on key seats like Islamabad's NA-48 and Lahore’s NA-128 remains pending, leaving both voters and political pundits waiting with bated breath.
Provincial Assembly lineup
The IPP has revealed its lineup for the Punjab Assembly elections, featuring a diverse range of candidates across various constituencies. Key nominations include Abdul Aleem Khan for PP-149 in Lahore and PP-209 in Khanewal. Jahangir Khan Tareen is set to contest from PP-227 in Lodhran, while Nazir Ahmad Khan secures the ticket for PP-228 in Lodhran.
In Rawalpindi, Amar Sadiq Khan (PP-12) and Malik Azmat Mehmood (PP-13) emerge as the party’s candidates. Other notable names include Atif Ali (PP-16), Fayyaz ul Hasan (PP-17), and Adnan Hasan (PP-19) in Rawalpindi. The strategic distribution continues with Raja Yavar Kamal for PP-24 in Jhelum, and Mamoon Tarar for PP-37 in Hafizabad.
Moving to Sialkot, Tahir Mahmood Hindli (PP-45) and Mohammad Mossadeq Riaz (PP-59) secure party nominations. Gujranwala sees Rana Nazeer Khan (PP-66) and Rana Umar Nazir (PP-68) as the designated candidates. In Khushab, Aamir Haider Singh (PP-81) and Ehsanullah Tiwana (PP-83) receive party tickets. Additionally, Mohammad Zubair is set to contest from Khushab (PP-84), and Sikandar Hayat from Faisalabad (PP-102).
Faisalabad sees Chaudhry Ali Akhtar (PP-106) and Nausher Subhan (PP-133) as IPP candidates. Lahore’s representation includes Mian Salman Saleem (PP-169) and Mian Abdul Khalid (PP-175). Hashim Dogar secures the party ticket from Kasur (PP-179 and PP-180), while Saleem Akhtar is the candidate for PP-182.
Further allocations include Falak Sher Langriyal for PP-204 in Sahiwal, Brigadier Qaiser Ali Haider for PP-213 in Multan, and Owais Khakwani for PP-236 in Vehari. For Bahawalpur, Tehseen Nawaz Gardizi is nominated for PP-245. Iftikhar Hasan is designated as the IPP candidate for PP-250. Lastly, for Kot Adu Niaz Hussain Gashguri (PP-277) and Syed Rafaqat Gilani (PP-282) complete the comprehensive list of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidates.
