Amidst the escalating cold weather, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced on Thursday a surge in influenza and pneumonia cases during the ongoing month.
Health authorities reported a total of 6,229 individuals affected by the influenza virus.
Peshawar saw a notable increase in both influenza and pneumonia cases, with additional instances recorded in Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, and Haripur. The Health Department also highlighted a significant rise in pneumonia cases among children, totaling 2,270 reported cases.
The prevalence of pneumonia cases was particularly pronounced in Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, and Haripur. Furthermore, influenza cases were concentrated in Peshawar, Swabi, Mansehra, and Haripur, as indicated by health officials.
Peshawar emerged as a central hub for both influenza and pneumonia cases, reporting 1,124 influenza cases in the city.
Health authorities are actively monitoring and responding to the escalating cases, emphasising the crucial need for public awareness and preventive measures in light of the growing health concerns associated with the harsh winter conditions.
