The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed Dr. Asif Hussain as the acting secretary in the absence of secretary Umar Hameed, who is currently unable to perform his duties due to illness.
The decision was made to ensure the smooth functioning of the ECP ahead of February 8 general elections.
In light of the illness affecting the commission's permanent secretary Umar Hameed, the electoral body has taken proactive measures to ensure the continuity of its operations.
Dr. Asif Hussain has been assigned the additional charge of special secretary through an official notification.
The notification states that in the absence of Umar Hameed, Dr. Asif Hussain will perform the duties of the ECP's secretary.
This move aims to prevent any disruption in the electoral processes and administrative functions of the commission during this period.
