Notably, the police spokesperson warned that those engaging in aerial firing, particularly with drunken drivers and motorcyclists, would face immediate arrest, with their vehicles subject to confiscation.
Legal proceedings under relevant laws would be initiated against such individuals, and no leniency would be shown.
In conjunction with these measures, Section 144 has been imposed in Karachi for two days from December 31 to January 1.
Commissioner Karachi, Salim Rajput, issued a notification detailing the restrictions, including a ban on the display of weapons, aerial firing, and the use of firecrackers during this period.
Commissioner Rajput stressed that it is the city's responsibility to protect the life and property of its citizens during the New Year celebrations.
