The security forces in major cities of the country have finalized arrangements for New Year’s Eve tomorrow.
In Punjab, 21,413 police officers and personnel will perform security duty, out of which 2,373 officers and officials have been appointed for the security of New Year celebrations in Lahore.
As per the Punjab Police, 271 metal detectors and 236 CCTV cameras will be installed for security.
Security arrangements have also been completed in other big cities of the province, including Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad.
The Punjab police chief has directed that indiscriminate action should be taken against those who engage in aerial firing, hooliganism, and one-wheeling. Special teams should be formed to prevent one-wheeling and aerial firing, he has instructed.
Dr Usman Anwar said no illegal activity would be accepted in the name of entertainment and recreation. Parents should never allow their children to be part of any illegal activity, he stressed.
In Karachi, the commissioner has given orders to enforce Section 144 for two days in the division on the occasion of New Year, and banned the display of weapons, aerial firing, and bursting fire crackers.
The ban will continue from Saturday till the end of January 1, Salim Rajput noted.
