Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Aneeq Ahmed, recently unveiled the draw results for the Hajj 2024 government scheme, marking a pivotal moment for thousands of eager pilgrims. Out of the 69,438 applications received in the regular Hajj scheme, 63,805 fortunate individuals were selected in the draw.
During a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club, Minister Aneeq Ahmed disclosed that a waiting list of 5,633 applicants has been created based on the cities of departure. Those on the waiting list will be considered in case of cancellations by selected applicants, with updates being communicated via mobile messages, websites, and a dedicated mobile app.
Highlighting the ongoing receipt of applications for the sponsorship scheme until December 31, Minister Aneeq revealed that 56 percent of the applicants are women, reflecting a significant interest from female pilgrims. Ensuring transparency in the selection process remains a priority for the ministry, aiming to uphold fairness and clarity.
In a move aimed at enhancing the pilgrims' experience, Minister Aneeq emphasized the introduction of short-term Hajj facilities within Pakistan. Notably, each pilgrim will receive a suitcase with a QR code, enhancing security and preventing misplacement of luggage.
Moreover, the ministry plans to provide complimentary Pakistani flag-themed abayas for all women pilgrims, alongside a free 7GB data card, further enhancing the Hajj journey experience.
Addressing the financial aspect, Minister Aneeq mentioned the reduction of the Hajj package cost by one lakh rupees. Additionally, efforts are underway to minimize airline ticket expenses, prioritizing the convenience of the pilgrims, especially those from Karachi included in the road to Makkah initiative.
Highlighting the government's commitment to facilitating pilgrims, Minister Aneeq mentioned the reservation of 25,000 seats for the sponsorship scheme, outlining the government's concerted efforts to enhance facilities for all pilgrims embarking on this sacred journey.
