Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood made it clear on Monday that wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan was preferred over Sarfaraz Ahmed due to the conditions for the second Test Australia in Melbourne.
Addressing a press conference, Masood said: “Sarfaraz Ahmed had been rested.” Speaking about the conditions, the Pakistan skipper stated, “We did not play up to the mark cricket for the first two days in Perth, which led to our defeat.”
He said, “The Pakistan team have played very few Test matches. There is a need to adopt a positive mindset in a bid to outplay Australia on their shores.”
Masood urged the need for the batters to change gears in terms of acceleration.
He drew a line of demarcation between the domestic cricket circuit and Test cricket. “There is a difference in Test cricket and the domestic cricket circuit in terms of the load,” Masood said.
