The England Cricket Board (ECB) has revealed that Kieron Pollard, the former West Indies captain, will serve as an assistant coach for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup scheduled for next year.
Pollard, renowned for his T20 expertise and notable achievements, including guiding the West Indies to victory in the 2012 World Cup and securing five Indian Premier League titles with the Mumbai Indians from 2013 to 2020, will bring his wealth of experience to support England in the tournament.
Set to take place in the West Indies and the United States in June 2024, the T20 World Cup has prompted the ECB to enlist Pollard's coaching prowess, particularly to provide insights into the local conditions.
The announcement emphasised Pollard's significant role in the West Indies' previous T20 World Cup triumph and highlighted his extensive experience with over 600 matches in the format.
As the defending champions following their T20 World Cup victory in Australia in 2022, England aims to leverage Pollard's expertise to enhance their chances in the upcoming tournament.
