Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor recently confessed that because of the pressure of being a product of nepotism, she ignored the skills that she could’ve learned as the daughter of the legendary Sridevi and utilised them in her career.
While talking about it in an interview, she added that it was foolish of her to not avail those opportunities at that time and that it is one of her greatest regrets in life.
The older daughter of late actor Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor, Janhvi made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with the romantic film "Dhadak". Sridevi passed away in February of the same year.
Kapoor also said: "I was extremely aware that I wanted to distance myself from my mother when I was filming my first movie, Dhadak, since rumors were circulating that I got the role because I am Sridevi's daughter. I went on a different trip, believing I wouldn't need her assistance and if she had acted in a certain way then I would act totally in an opposite way.
“I used to tell her to not come on the sets, to not help me. I used to feel as if I had an unfair advantage, a trump card thinking ‘How many people have access to Sridevi Kapoor, who is the best actor to come out of India?’ I used to feel that it’s already an unfair advantage, it will be more unfair if I take her advice,” the ‘Mili’ star continued.
“I feel that was very silly. I am her daughter and can’t run away from it. I took people very seriously, and I regret now knowing the fact that she was dying to be on the set with me, to help me as a mother. And I didn’t let her.”
Janhvi said that was one of her biggest regrets in her opinion, as there were moments when she wished she could have just said, "Mumma, I have a shoot. Please come quickly. Maybe she would have been there. I believe I've finally realized it".
The actor also said that she was “very proud” to be her parents' daughter, adding that the fact that she is Sridevi's daughter, made it impossible for anyone to have a moral discussion about it.
