The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday took into custody former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry alleging charges of corruption and abuse of power.
Mr Fawad was arrested from Adiala Jail, where Chaudhry was already in custody on related charges.
The arrest warrant, emanating from a thorough inquiry led by the NAB chairman, focuses on Chaudhry's alleged involvement in the Jhelum to Pind Dadan Khan dual carriageway project in which the former minister stands accused of leveraging political influence and partaking in irregular land acquisitions within the project's framework.
Executing the warrant, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail acted upon the directives of the Judicial Magistrate, marking a crucial juncture in the ongoing investigation into Chaudhry's purported misdeeds.
In response to the arrest, NAB officials have confirmed their intention to present Fawad Chaudhry before the court, seeking his remand as part of the legal proceedings.
