Islamabad United has raised the stakes for the upcoming ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by securing the dynamic trio of Shah brothers.
The franchise, known for strategic player acquisitions, recently drafted emerging talents Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah to join forces with the acclaimed Naseem Shah.
Addressing the media in Lahore, Naseem Shah, the elder statesman among the brothers, took the opportunity to clarify and dismiss any speculation about his role in influencing the selection of his siblings.
Emphasising that he is not the chief selector, Naseem underscored the merit-based nature of the inclusion of Hunain and Ubaid, crediting their individual efforts and dedication to the sport.
"I am not the chief selector; I cannot bring my brothers into the team," stated Naseem, putting to rest any doubts about nepotism, and highlighting the fair and competitive nature of their selection process.
Having previously been associated with Quetta Gladiators, Naseem expressed his excitement about the prospect of joining Islamabad United. Describing the team as "new" for him, the young pace sensation voiced his hopes for a fruitful season in his newfound cricketing home.
Acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, Naseem, a lanky and agile fast bowler, reflected on the arduous journey of making a comeback after an injury.
With keen awareness of the formidable batting talent present in the PSL, he anticipated the exciting challenge of bowling to some of the best batters in the upcoming season.
