The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has firmly refuted recent reports claiming they have released the official schedule for the upcoming general elections.
A spokesperson for the ECP categorically dismissed a news item published in a local newspaper, calling it entirely baseless and devoid of any truth.
Furthermore, the spokesperson denounced the fraudulent schedule circulating on various social media platforms.
The ECP representative expressed concern about the consistent emergence of false information related to the elections through both print and electronic media.
They strongly urged the public to rely solely on information provided by the official ECP spokesperson and to disregard any claims of originating from the commission that lack official endorsement.
Previously, on Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the commission's intention to release the official election schedule within the coming days.
In his message commemorating National Voters Day, Raja confirmed the completion of printing and delivery of the final electoral rolls.
He further stated that the ECP would shortly notify the district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs), and assistant officers (AOs).
The CEC emphasized the commission's full awareness of its constitutional and legal responsibilities.
He reaffirmed the ECP's complete preparedness and commitment to ensuring a secure electoral environment and allowing voters to exercise their right to vote with privacy and transparency in the upcoming February 8, 2024 elections.
