The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department conducted an intelligence-based operation in eight cities of the province and arrested 14 terrorists.
The arrested men included important commanders of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaatul Ahrar.
The security forces conducted operations in Lahore, Khushab, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, and Sahiwal in view of threats of terrorism.
The CTD said that senior commanders of the TTP and its former wing, Jamaatul Ahrar were arrested in Lahore. Explosive material, weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades were seized from the arrested terrorists.
It said the terrorists were planning attacks on sensitive installations.
This week, it further said, 588 combing operations were conducted, and 79 suspects arrested, while over 25,000 people were interrogated during these operations.
