Apple on Tuesday unveiled a new iPhone 15 Pro with a titanium case, faster chip, and other features designed to respond to a global smartphone slump.
The new iPhone 15 Pro will have a brighter display, a 48-megapixel camera, and 100% recycled cobalt in its batteries. It will also feature a new satellite connectivity feature that can be used to summon roadside assistance.
Apple said that USB-C charging cables will be coming to both its iPhone 15 and the charging case of its AirPods Pro devices. This will allow users to use the same charging cables for all of their Apple devices.
The iPhone 15 Pro will be powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which is the same chip that was used in the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro will start at $799 and $899 for the iPhone 15 Plus.
Apple also announced a new Series 9 Watch with a feature called "double tap". This feature allows users to tap their thumb and finger together twice to perform tasks like answering a phone call.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has new features for cycling and diving and what Apple said is the brightest screen it has ever made.
Apple will no longer use leather in any of its products. The company is replacing some of those products with a textile called "FineWoven" that it says feels like suede.
CEO Tim Cook also said Apple is "on track" to ship its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset early next year.
The new iPhone 15 Pro and other products announced by Apple are designed to help the company maintain its dominance in the smartphone market.
The global smartphone market has slumped in recent quarters, but Apple has been able to weather the storm better than its competitors.
