Torrential rainstorms in southern China have left a trail of destruction, resulting in at least seven casualties and unleashing over 70 crocodiles onto the streets of Maoming.
As rescue operations scramble to contain the situation, neighboring residents are advised to remain indoors until the threat is fully mitigated.
According to details, the incident occurred after the rain battered southern China, causing widespread flooding, landslides, and chaos.
Reports from Chinese media indicate that more than 70 crocodiles escaped from their enclosures.
An emergency official revealed that among the escaped reptiles, 69 were adult crocodiles while six were juveniles.
As of now, some have been successfully recaptured, but the operation remains a challenging endeavor due to the crocodiles taking refuge in the deep waters of a nearby lake.
