Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has successfully discovered hydrocarbon reserves in the Shah Bandar Block in Sindh Province.
Operating with a 63% working interest, PPL, in collaboration with Mari Petroleum Company Limited, Sindh Energy Holding Company Limited, and Government Holdings Private Limited, announced the find in a Pakistan Stock Exchange filing.
The discovery, made at the Jhim East X-1 Exploration Well, involved drilling to a depth of 2,545 meters to assess the hydrocarbon potential of the Upper Sand of the Lower Goru Formation.
The well exhibited a flow of 13.69 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 236 barrels per day of condensate at a wellhead flowing pressure of 2,668 pounds per square inch.
This successful exploration contributes to the country's hydrocarbon reserves, addressing the gap between oil and gas supply and demand.
It is anticipated to diminish the need for energy imports, thereby saving foreign exchange.
