England's cricket board (ECB) has unveiled the squads for the upcoming One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20s against the West Indies, introducing fresh faces while retaining six players from the 50-over World Cup squad.
Jos Buttler will lead the team during the Caribbean tour, and notable inclusions are uncapped seamers Josh Tongue and John Turner.
The six players maintaining their spots in the World Cup squad are Jos Buttler, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone. However, prominent names like Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, and Chris Woakes did not secure a place in the ODI lineup.
Ben Stokes, who announced earlier this month that he would undergo knee surgery after the World Cup, will be unavailable for the West Indies series. Additionally, David Willey, who retired amidst England's disappointing form and was not offered a central contract last month, won't be part of the ODI squad.
The announcement of the squads follows England's consolation victory over Pakistan at the World Cup, concluding a challenging campaign where they suffered six defeats in their first seven matches. With their title defence behind them, England now turns their attention to the West Indies, where they are scheduled to play three ODIs from December 3–9 and five T20s from December 12–21.
