Six police officials including Station House Officer (SHO) and Sub-Inspector were martyred and DSP among eight policemen injured in two separate incidents of attack on police in Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday.
As per the details garnered, four officers, including the SHO, lost their lives in an ambush while attempting to rescue a kidnapped girl in the vicinity of village Kadi Shah Noor. Reports indicate that five officers were injured during the attack.
The confrontation between the police and the armed assailants persisted for several hours. Despite the immediate response of DPO Iftikhar Ali Shah and a reinforcement of law enforcement, the attackers managed to flee.
In another distressing incident, robbers targeted a police mobile in the Shadan Lond area of Dera Ghazi Khan. Sub-Inspector Rizwan Mehboob tragically lost his life, and three other officers, including an ASI, sustained injuries.
One of the bandits involved was killed during the encounter. The injured were swiftly transported to the hospital, where doctors are currently treating them. However, one of the officers remains in critical condition.
Authorities have cordoned off the areas and have initiated a thorough search for the perpetrators, intensifying efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
