A former secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, Kanwar Dilshad, says the provincial cabinet has been dissolved with the death of the caretaker chief minister.
And since there is no provincial assembly, the Senate is going to take a decision. In the Senate, both the leader of the House and the leader of the opposition are present, Dilshad explained.

A six-member committee consisting of three government and three opposition members will be formed to decide on a nominee for the KP chief minister’s slot.
If they are unable to come to a conclusion, the matter will land at the election commission, which will have to come up with a decision within 48 hours.
According to Article 224 of the Constitution, a decision will have to be taken in a week, Kanwar Dilshad claimed.
He further said that during this period, all the powers will rest with the governor, who will run the administrative affairs of the province for a week.
Caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Azam Khan passed away on Saturday morning. According to the spokesperson of the Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar, Azam Khan was shifted to the private hospital on Friday night when his health deteriorated.
