Caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Azam Khan passed away on Saturday morning.
According to the spokesperson of the Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar, Azam Khan was shifted to the private hospital on Friday night when his health deteriorated.
According to media reports, Khan was suffering from a severe stomach infection and suffered a heart attack on Friday night. As per sources, quoting family and officials, he died at 10:25am on Saturday.
The hospital spokesman, Shabbir Shah, said Azam Khan was suffering from various diseases and was in a critical condition.
He was shifted to the Peshawar hospital on Friday night. Due to his illness, he had limited his movement for the past few days.
The chief minister house confirmed the death of Azam Khan, saying he had been unwell since Friday due to which the cabinet meeting was also cancelled.
The late CM only held a meeting with a UNHCR representative delegation, after which he was taken to hospital where he died this morning.

Azam Khan’s funeral prayers will be held at 3pm in Charsadda.
Mourning
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration secretary has announced a three-day mourning in the province. A notification in this regard was issued by the chief secretary.
During the mourning, the national flag will fly at half-mast across the province.
Who was Azam Khan?
Hailing from the Parrang area of Charsadda district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azam Khan was appointed the caretaker chief minister of the province on January 21, 2023.
A graduate of the historic Islamia College, he completed his barrister studies from the UK in 1962 and joined the civil service in the same year. His first posting was as an assistant commissioner in Peshawar.
Khan later served as the minister for finance of the province in the caretaker government from October 2007 to April 2008, and also as the planning and development minister. In the interim government of 2018, Azam Khan was appointed the federal interior minister.
From 1990 to 1993, he was also the chief secretary of the province. After serving on many important positions, he had retired as a federal secretary.
After retirement, he joined the United Nations and was the head of several important projects.
Belonging to an influential political family, he obtained a degree in law from the Peshawar University. Later, he went to London’s Lincoln’s Inn college for his bar at law degree.
Azam Khan was known to be an expert in administrative affairs, having served on important positions in KP, the country, as well as internationally.
