Hollywood sensation and former WWE star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson finds himself at the center of political speculation as various parties express interest in his potential bid for the U.S. presidency.
In a recent interview on the What Now? podcast with Trevor Noah, Johnson acknowledged the surprising revelation that numerous political parties had reached out to him, fueled by a New York Times survey indicating that 46% of Americans would support his presidential candidacy.
The Rock reacts to poll results
"The poll was very interesting. I was really moved by that. And I was really, uh, blown away. I was really honored," expressed the Jumanji star, reflecting on the public sentiment revealed in the survey.
Detailing the unexpected turn of events, Johnson disclosed that the invitations from political parties came out of the blue at the end of 2022, leaving him both surprised and intrigued. "It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue," he remarked during the interview.
Politics, not his initial goal
While Johnson has made a mark in the entertainment industry, particularly in Hollywood, he clarified that venturing into politics had never been his primary ambition.
In fact, he openly admitted, "My goal has never been to be in politics. Matter of fact, there are a lot of things about politics that I hate."
Reconsidering for passionate support
In response to Trevor Noah's question about a potential run for the presidency, Johnson maintained a measured stance.
"I would reconsider the decision regarding running for the president's office if people are really passionate about my candidacy," he stated, leaving the door slightly ajar for a possible foray into the world of politics.
