National Democratic Movement (NDM) president and former MNA Mohsin Dawar was briefly taken into custody by the Quetta police before being released and sent back to Islamabad.
According to police officials, Dawar was taken into custody from Quetta airport where he had reached to participate in the Chaman protest sit-in.
Later, Mohsin Dawar was flown back to Islamabad on a private flight, officials added.
In a letter addressed to Dawar by the Quetta deputy commissioner, it was said that as per the SSP (operations), the former MNA had reached Quetta and that it had been learnt there existed a security threat. Dawar was then advised against holding any political gathering in Quetta and told to leave the city at the earliest.
Sharing the same on his X acocunt, the NDM president said a few weeks ago, he had not been allowed to participate in his party's event in Bajaur. "The playing field is being leveled for a few. We stand in solidarity with the Chaman sit-in," he added.

The protest against the imposition of passport condition at the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing point has been going on for around 20 days. The protest has been organized by the All Pakistan Tradesmen and Laghri Alliance, which represents the workers at the crossing point.
The government’s requirement for traders to obtain visas and passports for crossing borders came into effect early in November. Thousands of political workers, dealers, and tribesmen have been protesting against this decision for several days.
The protesters are demanding the restoration of the former criteria to cross the Pak-Afghan border, which was just identity cards.
