New Zealand and Sri Lanka are playing crucial World Cup 2023 match in Bengaluru on November 8. The Blackcaps need to win this match to stay in the competition for the semi-finals but the weather could be a problem for Kiwis.
Right now, New Zealand and Pakistan have the same number of points, which is 8.
The Blackcaps haven't had good experiences in Bengaluru before. In a match against Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup, they scored 401 runs in the first innings but lost due to rain.
Unfortunately, the weather in Bengaluru could be a problem again for New Zealand in the game against Sri Lanka.
The weather forecast predicts that the temperature during the match will be around 27 degrees Celsius. However, there is a high chance of rain, especially between 2pm and 6pm.
Thunderstorms are expected at 1:30pm Indian Standard Time (IST) which is when the game starts and the chance of rain is 66%. This chance of rain will stay high until 7:30pm.
AccuWeather also says there might be thunderstorms at 3pm and 7pm, which could lead to a shortened game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
New Zealand must win against Sri Lanka to stay in the competition for the semi-finals. But if the game is cancelled due to rain, the Blackcaps will need Pakistan to lose to England to have a chance to reach the semi-finals.
Sri Lanka will play to keep their hopes alive for the Champions Trophy in two years.
