Pakistan's Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is set to embark on a significant journey to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as he prepares to attend the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) summit.
The Foreign Office (FO) has confirmed this development, highlighting the importance of Pakistan's participation in promoting regional cooperation and economic growth within the ECO region.
In an official statement released by the FO on Tuesday, it was announced that Prime Minister Kakar would use this platform to reaffirm Pakistan's dedication to the ECO vision for the year 2025.
The summit is expected to focus on various crucial aspects of regional development, including trade, transport, connectivity, energy, tourism, economic growth, and productivity.
However, the statement also underlined that Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar's agenda at the ECO summit would extend beyond reaffirming Pakistan's commitment.
He is also set to present a vision for the future endeavors of the organization and for the promotion of regional connectivity and mutual prosperity.
During his visit to Tashkent, Prime Minister Kakar is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with Uzbekistan's leadership and other participating leaders. These discussions are anticipated to explore various avenues of cooperation, aligning the interests of both nations for mutual benefit.
The statement emphasized Pakistan's deep-rooted commitment to the goals of connectivity and mutual prosperity within the ECO region, underlining the nation's status as a founding member of the organization.
This event follows Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir's official visit to Uzbekistan in September, where he focused on enhancing defense cooperation and military-to-military communication.
During his two-day visit, General Munir held significant meetings with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the defense minister, and officials from the country's state security service.
