News reports related to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman leaving for Gaza have been circulating on social and mainstream media.
The reports claim that the JUI-F chief has left for the war-hit Gaza to help the Palestinians being targeted by Israeli air strikes and ground incursions.
SAMAA Digital approached a JUI-F official, who denied any such news and rejected the reports circulating on social media. During the conversation, it was revealed that the Maulana was in Qatar to meet Hamas leadership.
A leader of the JUI-F Balochitan chapter told SAMAA Digital that all four provinces as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were each contributing Rs20 million for the battered Gazans.
“Moreover, 32 districts of Balochistan have submitted their share of Rs20 million,” he added.
The JUI-F had recently held mammoth gatherings in Karachi and Peshawar and launched a campaign to provide food and medicines for the war-affected Gaza families.
The Karachi rally of the JUI-F was named after Hamas's surprise attack on Israel -- Al-Aqsa Storm.
