Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif, while welcoming the announcement of the date for snap polls in the country, said that his party is ready to go to the polls under the leadership of party supremo Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement issued on Friday, he believes that having strong leadership will bring happiness to the lives of the people.
The PML-N president stressed that it is important to hold people accountable for what happened on April 3 and May 9, adding that maintaining this accountability is essential for guaranteeing the state's efficacy in addition to protecting the constitution and the rule of law. He said, “Those involved in the dissolution of the National Assembly now know that their actions were a grave offense,” in reference to the latest Supreme Court ruling.
“The PML-N is the only party that started the election process first,” he said, and added party’s election cell, parliamentary boards, and manifesto committee have been formed.
Sharif went on to say that beginning on November 1, applications from candidates are being accepted, and these actions are an indication that, with Almighty Allah’s help, the PML-N is prepared for the elections.
He expressed his commitment to the development and progress of the country, stating that if given the opportunity, his party would initiate the development process once more, adding that the party’s vision includes not only restoring the country to the level of development it had achieved in 2018 but also taking it further.
The former PM further stated that his party would bring peace in the country, put an end to the energy crisis, tackle unemployment and inflation, and improve the lives of the people. This includes promoting youth development, boosting businesses, and enhancing skills to drive economic growth and prosperity.
