Former legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi stressed on Friday the need for strengthening cricket at the grassroots level.
The former captain held a meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf. On this occasion, Afridi said, “There is a dire need to provide the best cricketing and coaching facilities at the grassroots level.’’
He underscored the importance of uplifting cricket at the junior level. ‘’Our future in cricket will be bright only if we work for the betterment of the junior cricketers. ’’
Ashraf commended the plan proposed by Shahid Afridi regarding the improvement in cricket at the grassroots level. “We want to work with you as you are our hero,’’ he said.
Both Ashraf and Afridi exchanged views on the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the 2023 World Cup.

Shahid Khan Afridi on Thursday called on Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.
PM Kakar urged Shahid Afridi to play his role in a bid to uplift cricket in the country.
The premier had also contacted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf.
Ashraf had been asked to hold consultations with the senior players to uplift cricket in the country.
