Film fraternities in both Hollywood and Bollywood are mourning the loss of beloved actor and comedian Matthew Perry, best known as the lovable and sarcastic Chandler Bing on the legendary show ‘Friends’.
Perry was found dead in a hot tub on Saturday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 54.
Warner Bros. Television Group, which produced 'Friends', described the five-time Emmy nominee as a “comedic genius”.
“We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry,” the studio said in a statement obtained by The LA Times. “Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”
The official Instagram account for Perry's hit TV show shared how he "was a true gift to all of us".

Perry’s 'Friends' co-star Maggie Wheeler, who played his on-again, off-again girlfriend Janice on the hit show, shared on Instagram that she felt "so very blessed by every creative moment" the two shared.

Mira Sorvino, who starred with the "troubled soul" Perry in the 1994 TV ensemble movie 'Parallel Lives', described his humour as “singular” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — Perry’s elementary school classmate — also posted a tribute on his X account, saying the actor's passing was "shocking and saddening".

Meanwhile, Rumer Willis shared a memory of her time with Perry and her father, Bruce Willis, on the sets of 'The Whole Nine Yards' and 'The Whole Ten Yards'.
“He was so kind and funny and sweet with my sisters and me and I think his physical comedy and that movie still makes me laugh so much,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Bollywood stars were equally saddened over the loss of the renowned actor, who was an integral part of childhoods and teens of many around the world.
Varun Dhawan, Sonam Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Sidharth Malhotra shared photos of the late actor on their Instagram stories with emojis of broken hearts.
Arjun Kapoor posted on his Instagram stories how everyone had "lost a friend today".
Kareena Kapoor posted a screenshot of one of Perry's scenes from 'Friends', on her Instagram story, saying: "Chandler FOREVER."
Actor Tara Sutaria shared she was "shocked and gutted", and that "no one could light up a screen" like Perry.
