Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been stopped from leaving the country.
According to sources, the estranged PML-N leader was travelling to China from Islamabad on Chinese Airlines flight.
Sources further said that the former prime minister’s name was in the stop list due to which the FIA immigration stopped him at the airport. Later, Abbasi left for home from airport.
It should be noted that the name of former prime minister was placed in the stop list on the order of the Sindh High Court.
Earlier last month, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's son Abdullah Khaqan Abbasi was prevented from leaving the nation at the Islamabad airport by immigration officials.
It has been forbidden for Abdullah Khaqan Abbasi, the son of former premier and senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), to travel outside. On a foreign carrier, flight EK-613, Abdullah Khaqan Abbasi was scheduled to travel for Dubai.
Due to the fact that Abdullah's name was on the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) stop list, the FIA immigration officers released him.
Previusly, Abbasi's bail was extended by the SHC in a case involving an unauthorized appointment at Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
During the hearing, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi showed up in court. Following the accused's arguments, the judge granted bail to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Arshad Mirza, Imranul Haque, and Yakoob Babar.
Additionally, the court ordered that Abbasi's name and the names of the other defendants be added to the Exit Control List (ECL).
The veteran member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the former petroleum secretary involved in the case appeared in court for the hearing. The unlawful appointment case was handled by a two-judge court led by Justice Omar Sial.
