In a disappointing turn of events, the 24th Lux Style Awards, originally scheduled to take place on May 7th, 2025, in Lahore, have been officially cancelled.
The announcement was made by the organizers and shared on the Instagram account of Diva Magazine Pakistan, citing security concerns as the primary reason behind the sudden decision.
The Lux Style Awards (LSA) are considered one of Pakistan’s most prestigious and long-running award shows, celebrating excellence in film, television, music, and fashion since 2001. With a legacy of 23 successful editions, the cancellation of this year’s event has triggered a wave of frustration and backlash from fans and nominees alike.
According to the organizers, the decision was taken after careful consideration of safety protocols. They extended gratitude to their sponsors, partners, and fans for their support during the planning phase and expressed hope to collaborate again in the future. However, the vague nature of the announcement has not gone down well with the public.
Fans quickly took to social media to vent their anger and disappointment:
- “If there’s a problem with the location, why not just change the venue instead of cancelling the entire event?”
- “You’ve wasted people’s votes and excitement. This is beyond unfair.”
- “Pakistan barely has award shows, and now this one is gone too. How can the entertainment industry grow like this?”
- “Indian awards are held with grandeur—and here we can’t even manage one LSA?”
Many also pointed out the emotional investment of fans who had voted tirelessly for their favourite celebrities, only to be left disheartened. Calls for postponing rather than cancelling the event echoed through the comments, with several users questioning the professionalism of the organisers.
At a time when Pakistan’s entertainment industry is striving for global visibility, the cancellation of its flagship awards ceremony has left a visible dent in morale and raised serious concerns about the future of such events.
