The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has frozen the bank accounts of Bahria Town Karachi on Tuesday.
According to details, a reference has also been filed regarding charges of corruption. The accused are alleged to have illegally acquired more than 16,000 acres of government land.
An application has been submitted to the accountability court requesting confirmation of the account freeze.
The NAB’s grip on Bahria Town has further tightened. Sixteen bank accounts have been frozen.
Moreover, the NAB has informed the accountability court of its actions. The application stated that a reference has been filed against the accused for illegally acquiring government land.
The application also noted that the accounts of Bahria Town Private Limited and Muhammad Siddiqui Majid have been frozen. It requested the court to confirm the orders issued by the Director General of NAB.
Orders were issued to freeze Rs25billion under the NAB laws. The NAB has also frozen commercial activities within Bahria Town Karachi.
References have additionally been filed in the Karachi Accountability Court against Malik Riaz and others.

A reference has been filed regarding the illegal allotment of more than 17,000 acres of land to Bahria Town.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Malik Riaz, Ali Riaz, Zain Malik, and other absconding accused.
Eight accused, including Qaim Ali Shah and Manzoor Qadir Kaka, have sought restraining orders from the High Court. The Sindh High Court has issued a stay on proceedings against Qaim Ali Shah and others.
The court has postponed the provision of reference copies to the accused until the next hearing.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah is alleged to have illegally allotted land to Malik Riaz and others.
