Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has gotten huge relief from the court, as he has been acquitted of the charges in an assets beyond means case of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The NAB prosecutor also agreed to the acquittal of the PML-N senator.
NAB Prosecutor Afzal Qureshi submitted a detailed response in the accountability court, saying there was no proof of corruption against Ishaq Dar and that the bureau did not want to pursue the case.
He further said they did not object to the acquittal of Ishaq Dar and others in the case, adding that they presented arguments on merit.
The counsel for Dar said that the court has tried the entire case and the statements of the witnesses are also on record, and that his client should be acquitted in light of the written reply of the NAB.
Judge Muhammad Bashir gave a short order granting Ishaq Dar's plea, acquitting him of the charges in an assets beyond means case.
