The Layyah police have intensified their crackdown on criminal gangs, leading to the arrest of multiple offenders and the recovery of looted goods worth over Rs900million in the months of February and March.
During a press conference at the police lines, Layyah DPO Muhammad Ali Waseem provided details of the operations, which were carried out against the criminals. The DPO said that police teams from City Police Station, Saddar Police Station, Kot Sultan Police Station, and Pir Jaggi Police Station registered 155 cases and recovered Rs 257 million worth of looted goods from criminals.
The seized items included 57 motorcycles, 25 solar motors, 44 cattleheads, and Rs120 million in cash.
A significant breakthrough came with the arrest of the inter-district "Asar Gang," notorious for cattle theft and causing distress among farmers.
The gang’s apprehension led to the recovery of over Rs 100 million from stolen cattleheads sales, bringing relief to affected communities. The recovered valuables were returned to the rightful owners, who expressed gratitude for the police’s efforts.
DPO Muhammad Ali Waseem reaffirmed the police’s commitment to combating crime, emphasizing that the ongoing recovery of stolen assets reflects the dedication of Layyah police.
He vowed to continue with relentless efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
