The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was considering promoting cricket at grassroots level in a bid to uplift the sport.
Addressing a press conference, PCB Spokesperson Aamir Mir on Saturday said: "Students from schools and colleges across the country want to be a part of the Pakistan national cricket team. The PCB and NCA coaches will look to nurture school and college students."
"The process of the selection programme is speeding up after Mohsin Raza Naqvi took over as PCB chairman," said Naqvi.
He said, "The purpose of the Talent Hunt Programme is to boost the morale of boys and girls."
"Children in Australia, New Zealand, and England start playing cricket from a very young age," stated Mir.
"Playing cricket and engaging in strict training sessions at an older age can lead to fitness issues as well," said Mir.
