Pakistani all-rounder Khushdil Shah has been fined 50% of his match fee for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20 match against New Zealand.
The left-handed cricketer was found guilty of a Level 2 offence after intentionally colliding with a New Zealand player during the game. As a result, he has been awarded three demerit points.
According to ICC regulations, accumulating four demerit points within a specific period can lead to a suspension from international matches. With this latest penalty, Shah is now just one demerit point away from a possible ban.
The ICC Code of Conduct aims to uphold discipline in international cricket, with Level 2 breaches typically covering serious misconduct, such as physical contact or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
If Khushdil Shah receives one more demerit point, he could face a one-match suspension, potentially affecting Pakistan’s squad in upcoming games.
