Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has once again become the target of intense online criticism following the announcement of her new podcast. Social media users on X (formerly Twitter) reacted harshly, with many resorting to personal attacks and accusations.
The backlash began after entertainment news page Pop Crave posted about Markle’s latest venture. Some users accused her of “sleeping her way to the top,” while others mocked her as the “founder of being the world’s biggest annoyance.” Several comments took a more aggressive turn, with one user claiming, “Another heart attack is coming for the British media.”
Criticism also extended to the podcast’s alleged similarity to other existing titles, with some renaming it “Confessions of a Female Flounder.”
Others targeted Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry, calling him a “drugged-out fool” and accusing her of bullying those who “welcomed her.”
The online attacks did not stop at Markle alone. Some users took the opportunity to criticize the British royal family, with one comment reading, “So happy the Queen is dead, so she can’t see this mess of a ghetto princess.”
Markle, who has frequently faced public scrutiny since stepping back from royal duties alongside Prince Harry in 2020, has yet to respond to the latest controversy. The Sussexes have previously spoken out about the impact of online abuse, with Prince Harry advocating for social media reform to curb the spread of misinformation and harassment.
Despite the backlash, Markle’s podcast is expected to generate significant interest, particularly among her supporters. The project marks her latest attempt to establish an independent media presence following the couple’s high-profile split from the royal family.
