A total of 338 candidates have been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations marking a significant increase from last year’s 286 nominees.
According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the nomination deadline was Jan 31, with the committee retaining the right to add more names during its first meeting, which took place on February 28 this year.
The highest number of nominations recorded in the prize’s history was in 2016, when 376 candidates were in the running. However, the committee does not disclose the names of nominees, keeping the selection process confidential for 50 years, as per Nobel Foundation regulations.
While some names may surface in the media due to speculation or self-reported nominations, official confirmation remains strictly prohibited.
The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate(s) will be announced on Friday, October 10, followed by the award ceremony on December 10 in Oslo, Norway.
