Renowned Pakistani actress Rabya Kulsoom has strongly criticized brands for signing national cricketers as brand ambassadors despite their underwhelming performance in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Taking to Instagram, the actress expressed her frustration, stating that brands should stop hiring cricketers for promotions and let them focus on their game instead. Following Pakistan’s disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy, where the team failed to impress fans and former players alike, Rabya urged that endorsements should be reserved for individuals who excel in their respective fields. In her Instagram story, she wrote, "Brands should stop making cricketers their ambassadors. Let them focus on the sport they were selected for—playing cricket! If Cricketers Want to Act, Let Actors Join the Team!"
Rabya Kulsoom’s criticism did not stop there. In another post, she sarcastically suggested that if cricketers are interested in acting, then actors should also be allowed to join the national team. She remarked that perhaps this would bring better results in both cricket and entertainment.
Her comments have sparked discussions among fans, especially in light of Pakistan's recent squad changes. Following their Champions Trophy exit, senior players were dropped, and a fresh lineup was selected for the New Zealand tour in hopes of rebuilding the team.
Rabya is not the only celebrity disappointed with the cricket team. Actress Sonia Hussain also voiced her frustration. During a recent show, when asked about her favorite cricketer, she replied, "Babar Bhai was my favorite, but not anymore."
The backlash from the entertainment industry reflects the growing dissatisfaction among Pakistani fans, who expect the team to perform better in international tournaments instead of focusing on commercial engagements.
