Breast cancer survivor Rozlyn Khan has once again sparked discussions about Hina Khan’s fasting and workout routine during Ramadan, subtly questioning the feasibility of such activities for a cancer patient undergoing treatment.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Rozlyn expressed doubt about the ability of a cancer patient still undergoing chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy to fast and work out. She stated:
“It’s the most difficult fasting..! It’s not possible for a normal person to fast and gym during fasting. Yes, gyming is possible, but after breaking the fast in the evening. But if a cancer patient who is still taking chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy claims to do it, it’s humanly impossible.”
Rozlyn, who herself had to skip fasting this year due to the physical toll of treatment, emphasized the importance of nutrition and hydration for cancer patients.
Criticism over sehri and iftar diet
While Rozlyn did not directly mention Hina Khan, her comments came shortly after the actress shared her Sehri and Iftar meals, which included dates, fruits, pakoras, falooda with chia seeds, and orange juice. Rozlyn indirectly criticized the inclusion of sugary and fried foods, urging cancer patients to follow strict dietary guidelines prescribed by oncologists.
“Your journey is different and difficult. Maida, sugar, palm oil, fried items are not for you. If you have already recovered, you can fast, or seek forgiveness from Allah for not being able to fast. A hydrated body is a must if you are still on treatment. Ramadan or not, prayer is important, but bhajiyas and falooda sharbat are not for you—no sugar, please.”
Hina Khan’s cancer battle
Hina Khan, who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June 2024, has been openly sharing her journey of resilience and strength with her fans. Known for her roles in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and Bigg Boss 11, she has undergone chemotherapy and other treatments while maintaining a positive outlook.
Despite the challenges, Hina has continued working and advocating for cancer awareness, inspiring many with her determination and focus on mental and physical well-being. Her Ramadan routine has been a testament to her resilience, but Rozlyn’s remarks have reignited the debate on whether cancer patients should fast while undergoing treatment.
