Meta-owned instant messaging app’s new tool will offer customisable shapes for personalised status updates.
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to edit sticker photos for their status updates, enhancing the app’s creative options. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently under development and will be available in a future update, initially for beta testers.
Customisable sticker shapes
The upcoming feature will offer users a selection of predefined shapes to modify their sticker photos before posting them as status updates. These shapes include two rectangular options (landscape and portrait), a square, a circle, a heart, and a star, providing greater flexibility and personalization.
The rectangular and square shapes will be especially useful for creating collage-like effects, helping users share multiple images in a well-organised layout within a single status update. On the other hand, decorative shapes like circles, hearts, and stars will allow users to add a visually appealing touch to their photos.
For instance, a heart shape can be used to highlight romantic moments, while a star shape can make specific images stand out. The circular shape can act as a profile-like cutout or draw attention to particular parts of an image, adding creativity to status updates.
Enhancing user experience
This feature aligns with WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to improve user experience, enabling individuals to adapt their sticker photos to suit different themes, moods, and storytelling styles. By offering more creative control, the platform aims to make status updates more engaging and expressive.
While the feature is still in development, users can expect its rollout in an upcoming update, starting with beta testers before becoming available to the broader audience.
