Pakistan is considering two changes in the playing XI against Australia in their third match of World Cup 2023, according to reports.
The decision is influenced by playing conditions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and viral infection hitting the Pakistani camp.
Pakistan has won two out of three matches in the tournament with a loss to India.
Usama Mir, who was the first player from the Pakistani team to contract infection before the India match, has now fully recovered and participated in training in Bengaluru.
He is a favourite for selection in the upcoming match as the Chinnaswamy Stadium's pitch is known to be favourable for spinners. He is set to replace vice-captain Shadab Khan, according to reports.
Abdullah Shafique remained in quarantine in his room with flu and fever but is now fit and available for the match.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel and Zaman Khan had also been affected, but they are fit as well.
However, five players who did not take part in the practice session on Thursday include Haris Rauf, Usama Mir, Fakhar Zaman (knee injury), Salman Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed.
The reason behind their non-participation has not been conveyed but reports suggest that they are still unwell to train.
Pakistan will struggle to make-up playing XI if Iftikhar Ahmed doesn't play against Australia.
Additionally, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provided updates on the health of two other players. Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman is recovering from a knee injury and is expected to be available for selection in the next week.
All-rounder Agha Salman has been dealing with a fever after a training session, while the rest of the team remains in good health.
Pakistan is gearing up for a crucial match against Australia in the World Cup, and the team's selection and strategies are being carefully considered securing a victory.
