Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, is expanding its "broadcast channels" feature.
Initially introduced on Instagram in February, this tool allows page administrators to send one-way messages to their followers.
Now, this feature is coming to Facebook and Messenger.
Creators and public figures with Facebook pages can use broadcast channels to send messages, including photos, videos, and voice notes, to their community.
It's important to note that only administrators can send messages in these channels, while participants can react to the messages and vote in polls.
Administrators can create a channel directly from their page, and followers will receive a one-time notification to join after the first message is sent.
These channels will be accessible in Messenger chats under the "Channels" tab.
Participants will receive notifications when the page owner sends updates, but they can mute the channel at any time.
This expansion offers greater communication flexibility for content creators and public figures on Facebook's platforms.
While the feature isn't available everywhere yet, page admins with access can start using broadcast channels, and those without access can join a waitlist for future availability.
