Awam Pakistan Party (APP) Secretary-General Miftah Ismail said on Saturday that the undemocratic practices dominated the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Expressing his views on Samaa TV’s programme, "Mere Sawal With Absar Alam", the former finance minister said: "The votes were not obtained by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Power was given to the party," said Ismail.
He remarked that PML-N had once advocated for respecting the vote but circumstances had altered the political landscape.
Criticising the leadership of the PTI founder, Ismail stated that democratic values had been absent in Khan’s governance.
He asserted, "There is no democratic essence in the founder of PTI. Non-democratic actions were carried out during his tenure."
Addressing concerns about constitutional integrity, Ismail stressed the importance of defending the national charter. "There is nothing wrong if anyone stands up to protect the constitution," he remarked.
Ismail revealed that discussions had been ongoing within his party regarding possible alliances, restricted to constitutional protection.
He also commented on Sudan’s conflict, stating that the paramilitary force had staged an uprising against the national army.
