PTI Chairman Imran Khan has demanded an open court trial in the cipher case, according to the insider reports from today’s hearing in Adiala Jail.
Imran Khan told Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqernain that he fears he could be poisoned in the jail through food. To this, the judge remarked that the jail trial was being held after the suspect expressed security concerns.
According to sources, during Tuesday’s hearing, Imran Khan sought permission to be provided home-cooked food over fears he could be poisoned through the jail food. “The food here is not reliable; my life is at risk,” he is reported to have told the judge.
The judge remarked that the jail administration is responsible for the food. He questioned who would take the guarantee for the food brought from outside the jail. Imran Khan complained that he was not being allowed to meet his lawyers, adding that they were only allowed a meeting once a week for half an hour.

He requested for a detailed meeting with the lawyers contesting all his cases. “There was freedom to meet the lawyers in Attock Jail, while there are restrictions here,” sources quoted Imran Khan as saying.
During the hearing, Shah Mahmood Qureshi complained about an aggravating back pain. At this, the judge asked whether he had been provided a mattress that he had ordered earlier. If the mattress has been provided, then now he could order for the provision of a charpoy.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi could not be indicted in the cipher case today. The copies of the investigation report will be shared with the suspects, while they will also be indicted at the next hearing.
The special court of the Official Secrets Act re-distributed the copies of the investigation report in the case among the suspects over the objection of their lawyers. The next hearing will be held after a week.
The two were scheduled to be indicted in the cipher case today.
