The Commonwealth has issued a new travel advisory for British and European citizens, cautioning against travel to various regions of Pakistan, particularly those near the Afghan border.
According to the advisory, travellers are urged to avoid areas within 10 miles of the Afghan border, including Bajaur, Bannu, Buner, Charsadda, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Swat, Tank, and North and South Waziristan.
The advisory also restricts travel along the Karakoram Highway between Mansehra and Chilas, covering Battagram, Bisham City, Dasu, and Sazin. In addition, British and European citizens have been advised to avoid visiting Chitral, Kailash Valley, and the entire province of Balochistan.
British diplomatic sources clarified that such advisories are issued periodically as part of routine safety measures to protect citizens. They emphasized that travel guidance is regularly updated based on security assessments and is not necessarily linked to any immediate threat.
