Renowned Pakistani writer and director Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, known for his iconic dramas like ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’ and ‘Pyare Afzal,’ recently opened up about his marriage to Faysal Quraishi's ex-wife.
The revelation came during an appearance on a podcast, where the celebrated writer discussed the long-standing rumours surrounding his personal life.
For the first time, Khalil addressed the speculation, firmly denying any role in Faysal Quraishi’s divorce. “I can recite the ‘Kalma’ that the reason for their divorce was not me,” Khalil stated, emphasizing that the split was due to other personal reasons.
He revealed that he had even tried to mediate between Faysal and his first wife to save their marriage. “I fought with Faysal and his mother to make his marriage work, but his mother told me, ‘This divorce has been postponed because of you, but it had to happen.’”
Khalil also reflected on his friendship with Faysal, calling him a "dear friend" and praising his acting talent. He recalled how he fought for Faysal to get a significant role early in his career after being impressed by his audition.
On the subject of his eventual marriage to Faysal’s ex-wife, Khalil admitted, “I married his wife later on, but that’s another story. I wasn’t even financially settled at the time to attract someone. People need to understand that their divorce was not because of me. I only met his wife once or twice before their separation.”
The acclaimed writer expressed his frustration over the rumours, requesting the public to stop drawing unnecessary parallels between his real life and his work, such as ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho.’ “That drama was not inspired by my life,” he clarified.
Khalil’s candid statements have sparked discussions online, with many applauding his honesty and efforts to set the record straight regarding this personal matter.
