Former Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq warned on Sunday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would face even greater harm due to the escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During a meeting with Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and Muhammad Ali Durrani, who had invited him to attend a peace consultation meeting, Haq emphasised the importance of resolving the ongoing unrest in the province.
"We will hold even 1,000 jirga meetings for the sake of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," Haq said. He further stressed that the responsibility to maintain law and order lay with both the federal and provincial governments.
"It is up to the federal and provincial government to ensure the upholding of the law and order in the province," he stated.
Haq also expressed concern over the political manipulation of the region's security situation, saying, "It is not a good omen to stage politics on unrest, terrorism."
