Balochistan currently cultivates organic cotton over 117,000 hectares in districts such as Khuzdar, Kharan, Nasirabad, Sibi, Loralai, and Barkhan.
According to the Balochistan Agricultural Research Center, an additional 3.7 million hectares of barren land could be made arable, significantly increasing cotton production.
Agricultural Research Center Director General Rauf Kakar highlighted the potential benefits stating, "By establishing textile industries in various districts, we can further maximize the economic value of cotton cultivation."
Farmers also emphasized the importance of government support in expanding cotton farming. Abdul Rehman Bazai, a local farmer, noted, "Developing barren lands for cotton farming will not only increase production but also create numerous employment opportunities."
Farmers believe that with adequate facilities, Balochistan has the capacity to meet the country's cotton demands effectively.
